West Coast Wilderness Trail

26th of March 2024. Most of my class went on a massive bike ride which ended up being 43km. We biked for approximately 5 hours, we started at 9:30am – 2:30pm.

My class started at Old Christchurch Road, which was all flat, empty and straight for a while. I was teaching Stella how to change gears and how to use her brakes. That part went for 15km, and then we carried on. The trail got bumpier as we went and more puddles. ( Aalia and I loved the puddles you should’ve seen our backs!)

Next we went to this curvy, steep, downhill that was what I called “Wipeout Town”! First Jacob forgot to use his breaks and went flying down and skidded off his bike.  He was fine so he hopped back on and then Sayasun got wiped out! She went too fast down and fell right off but she hopped back on, This was the most hilarious section.

My next favourite part was when I was with Aalia at Larrikins Road. There was a big hill and Aalia and I were screaming and laughing, with fear in our eyes. We were as fast as lightning going down the hill.

The hardest part was the big steep hills. We found riding very difficult when we had to go up the hills even in the lowest gear because some people hopped off their bikes in the middle of it so we had to turn into a deep pothole or onto the long grass.

Overall I loved this bike ride. This bike ride was enjoyable and entertaining and I loved talking to my friends while biking. We did this bike ride for a William Pike Challenge.
